PAC - Pre-Adoption Post-Adoption Counselling

PAC offers confidential, specialised and independent advice, information and support to anyone involved in adoption and other forms of permanent care, including adoptive parents, adopted adults, birth parents and other birth family members of adopted children, foster carers where permanence is the plan, Special Guardians and prospective adopters.

Services include: daily Advice Line staffed by qualified counsellors experienced in adoption matters; face to face counselling for all parties to adoption; intensive therapy for adoptive families; support with contact arrangements between adoptive and birth families; support groups for birth mothers and for adopted adults; an intermediary service for birth relatives and adopted adults wishing to make or maintain contact (PAC does not provide a tracing service); workshops and seminars for all parties to adoption, and professional consultation and training. There is a fortnightly drop-in for birth mothers whose children have been compulsorily removed. PAC provides an ethnically sensitive service for black and minority ethnic families and individuals.

PAC's face to face services take place at its premises in Kentish Town, London. In addition, a monthly counselling surgery takes place at a venue in Romford where anyone affected by adoption or permanent care can meet with a qualified and experienced PAC counsellor. This is a free service for any resident of the London Borough of Havering. Appointments can be made via PAC's Advice Line.
