Havering Community Learning Disability Team
The Havering Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT) is a joint Specialist Social Care and Health team for adults with Learning Disabilities who live in the London Borough of Havering, who’s needs cannot be met by mainstream health and social care.
Who is in the CLDT:
- Adult Social Care (assessments of need, carers assessments and input around assessment needs)
- Nursing (nursing assessments and support)
- Physiotherapy (assessment and intervention)
- Psychiatry (mental health assessment and intervention)
- Psychology (Psychological Therapies, Art Therapy, Challenging behaviour specialist)
- Occupational Therapy (everyday living skills assessments and intervention)
- Speech and Language Therapy (eating and drinking assessments and communication assessment)
What we offer:
Our objectives relate directly to the things that people with learning disabilities have told us matter and the aspects of their lives where they need support. These are:
- Good communication and help to speak up and be heard
- Help with life planning and making decisions
- To help people to develop the knowledge and skills they need to be able to make responsible decisions, including making informed decisions in expressing their sexuality.
- To help people with a learning disability who become parents to meet their parental responsibilities and to provide they support they need.
- To make sure people have a place to live that meets their needs.
- Support in daily living.
- To provide the support people need in their daily living.
- Enough money and help to manage it.
- Learning, employment, occupation and social and leisure activities.
- Keeping safe and feeling safe.
- Keeping as healthy as possible.
- Support for family and carers.

Referrals are accepted from clients, carers, family members, advocates, health professionals or customer service adult social care. Referral forms can be sent by post, fax or emailed to CLDTReferrals@havering.gov.uk
criteria: Must have a diagnosed learning disability IQ below 70 with a learning disability as predominant need. Aged 18 and over.
exclusions: Those with a borderline learning difficulty will be excluded, must have a definite learning difficulty.
