Havering Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT)

The CLDT is a joint health and social services team and offers a service to adults aged 18 and over who may need help because of a learning disability.

This may include people who also have any of the following additional needs:

  • physical and/or sensory disabilities
  • speech and language difficulties
  • difficulties in social functioning
  • concurrent mental health problems
  • challenging behaviour
  • epilepsy

The CLDT offers adults with a learning disability and their carers advice, information, and support.

The team is also responsible for: care planning assessment specialist health care purchasing of appropriate care packages.

The team consists of:

  • team manager
  • care managers
  • community learning disability nurses
  • psychologists
  • speech and language therapists
  • physiotherapists
  • psychiatrists
  • consultant psychiatrists
  • business support team
  • art therapists
  • occupational therapists

Referrals are accepted from clients, carers, family members, advocates, health professionals or customer service adult social care. Referral forms can be sent by post, fax or emailed to CLDTReferrals@havering.gov.uk   

criteria: Must have a diagnosed learning disability IQ below 70 with a learning disability as predominant need. Aged 18 and over.

exclusions: Those with a borderline learning difficulty will be excluded, must have a definite learning difficulty.
