Abacus After School Club @ Squirrels Heath Junior

We are Abacus After School Club and we are located within the school buildings. We only offer our places to children attending the school. It means your child isn’t sitting on a minibus for ages whilst we collect the children from other schools. This also means that your children can go to school-based clubs and we collect them after their club has finished.
We at Abacus are striving to be the best at what we do. This means no short cuts and going above and beyond in every aspect of our role. Our aim is to be the premier after school club and we think we’re doing very well so far. From day one we insisted that we would care for your children as we would our own.
Abacus After School Club was started in 2004 by Kayley and Sharon and has gone from strength to strength. We now have 7 after school clubs and 5 breakfast clubs which make up the business and we couldn’t be more proud of what we and our teams have achieved. All staff are DBS checked and have training in Advanced Safeguarding as well as First Aid and food hygiene. Our staff are long serving, we see this as testimony to our good practises and professional outlook. Great teams of caring and knowledgeable staff are what makes us who and what we are. Currently we have 5 settings which have been graded OUTSTANDING by OFSTED and two setting which are due for reinspection which are presently graded as GOOD. It’s worth taking the time to read the OFSTED inspection for your child’s school as we don’t think we could have written better reviews if we’d been allowed to write them ourselves. Our many years of experience in addition to the skill and professionalism of the teams working at the settings, we have an extremely safe and inspiring place for your children to be. We offer all children the opportunity to have a quiet place if they wish to do homework or reading. There are world toys and games, X-box, board games and puzzles as well as outside toys and games to keep the children engaged and interested. The children are encouraged to make suggestions to improve the clubs for themselves and Abacus After School Clubs take their suggestions very seriously. As we do from both staff and parents/carers alike, with a suggestion box and comments book available at all settings. It is because of the feedback from the children that we are as forward facing as we are.
Abacus share information with the school as much as possible to give a seamless integration between the two facilities. We also share information with parents and carers to show how the children are growing both academically and emotionally. We keep journey folders for each reception child which shows their work generated at Abacus. This may be in written form, artwork or craft.
We never forget that the most important thing at Abacus is your child. Most of all we want a safe, caring and inclusive environment to allow the children to enjoy their time with our excellent staff.
