FRIENDS OF UPMINSTER WINDMILL

Upminster Windmill was built in 1803 and is an icon of the town. The Friends of Upminster Windmill was formed to raise funds to maintain the Mill and recruit volunteers to assist with open days. In 2015 Upminster Windmill was awarded a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to fully restore the Windmill and build a new Education Centre. This will enable the Mill to accommodate more visitors as it will have amenities which previously weren�t in place. The Community Engagement Officer will work to raise awareness about the project in the local community as well as recruiting new volunteers. Once the Mill is fully open to the public in 2018 there will be open days each weekend, a varied season of events throughout the year as well as school and community group visits.
