East Thames

East Thames is one of the largest providers of affordable housing in east London and Essex. We own and manage almost 15,000 homes. But we’re more than just a landlord – we also build new homes, provide care and support services and offer employment and training programmes.

We know that providing a safe and well maintained home is the most important part of our work, but our philosophy has always been to help people improve their neighbourhoods and their lives.

In December 2016, we merged with L&Q to become a wholly owned subsidiary of the L&Q Group. You can find out more about the merger and its benefits here. 

As part of the L&Q Group, our mission is to combine our social purpose and commercial drive to create homes and neighbourhoods we can be proud of. We do this by:

• Providing affordable homes for people in East London and Essex. This includes social rented homes and homes for shared ownership;
• Building quality new homes in East London and Essex and improving neighbourhoods;
• Providing care and supported accommodation for people with support needs, including older people, people with mental health needs and learning disabilities and women fleeing domestic violence.
• Offering a range of programmes to help people get back into work or training.
