Carlene Anglim - Starseed-kids Childminder
Starseed Childcare offers a safe and nurturing home from home environment, full of fun activities, an enriching curriculum, music, creative play, forest school sessions, exploration and curiosity where kids can relax and be themselves! I offer childcare from 4 months upwards, and can pick up from St.Albans RC Primary, Scargills infant/junior and Mitchells primary: depending on times!
My name is Carlene and I live with my 3 almost grown up sons in South Hornchurch (age 21, 19 and 19) who are university students and a border force apprentice. I absolutely love my job as I get so much joy working with children and have learnt a lot about their development over the years.I have worked as a Registered Nurse for 9 years including working in children’s and adolescent services before becoming a childminder. I’ve also been a music tutor with Havering music and Newham Music. As a nurse i remember how hard it was to find childcare around shift hours, so i am flexible and negotiate shift hours for nurses and other key workers/shift workers.

- Notes
I have taught violin for both Havering Music School (including Saturday school,Upminster infant, crownfields, parsonage farm, st albans) and Newham’s “Every Child a Musician” This included teaching violin to classes of children aged 5 and upwards. My children, siblings and parents are also musicians, and my Mum has taught music locally, both privately and for Havering Music for years. The children I look after become part of the household and benefit from the natural encouragement of musicianship from an early age which comes from being part of a musical family. They’ll learn the basics of musicianship before school, which research shows does all sorts of good things to the brain -apparently!
I’ve also worked as a Registered Nurse for 9 years including as a staff nurse at the Child and Adolescent Services in the The Priory, North London, and various services in NELFT. This experience emphasised to me how vital the early years are to the development of the person, and how important it is to encourage children to develop resilience, critical thinking, and most importantly confidence in themselves. I left nursing to come back to working with kids, but in the form of childminding.
Following the pandemic I ve adopted hygiene practices i learnt as a nurse to reduce as much as possible any potential transmission and to keep those in my care as safe as possible.
I currently have places available so if you’re looking for somewhere that your child can have fun, be well cared for and nurtured in the same way i care for my own then contact me and arrange a visit - :)
