Area SEND Inspection

As you may be aware the Local Area Inspection of support to children with special
educational needs and disability (SEND) took place between February 26th and March 2nd 2018.
Throughout the week a team of six inspectors from Ofsted and the Care Quality
Commission (CQC) met with staff teams, children and parents, and also visited schools and health settings. The purpose of the inspection was to assess how well we, in Havering identified needs, met the needs and improved outcomes for children with SEND.
The report has now been published and is able to be downloaded from the link on the right side of this page along with a letter of thanks to parents who contributed. I hope that you will find the report interesting. The message is broadly a positive one and the feedback provided has given us things to work through in the coming months. We were very pleased that Ofsted and CQC commented on how well we work together across the Local Area.
Thank you to all of you who were involved in the Inspection and contributed, either through attending meetings, school visits or the webinar which was well supported.
We are very keen to involve parents in the on-going developments to improve SEND
support in Havering and if you would like to become involved then please do not hesitate to contact me.
