Virtual Oral Health Workshop

The children’s centres are hosting a Virtual Oral Health Workshop for parents with children aged 0-5 years led by a Dental Nurse. The workshop will cover a number of areas to promote good oral health including tooth brushing, preventing tooth decay and infection, diet and dental visits.

Havering link in with the Oral Health Practitioner for KCFHT- Kent Community Health Foundation Trust who provide evidence based oral health promotion services for local authorities including Havering. They have a website where they have put together some oral health resources for professionals and for parents and carers. https://www.kentcht.nhs.uk/service/dental-services/oral-health-promotion-resources/

To promote good oral health, the Chief Dental Officer recommends the videos on this page which share a two minute guide to maintaining healthy teeth for children in the following age ranges.

We have tooth brushing packs for the 0-2 and 3+ plus age ranges available. Although we are having limited face to face contacts with families currently, where you do identify that these may be helpful, you can collect a pack through a prior arrangement from St Kilda Children’s Centre. All the packs will be in a sealed bag to avoid any cross contamination. If you would like to collect a pack, please can you e-mail childrenscentres@havering.gov.uk

The Change4Life website also includes a Top Tips for Teeth toolkit which aims to support engagement with parents about dental health. Please see attached a guide with handy tips and you can find out more on the Change4 Life website here- NHS Change for Life

If you are working with families who may be interested in booking onto the above Oral Health Workshop, please e-mail childrenscentres@havering.gov.uk to reserve a place.
